Five Stitch Dishcloth

Training Needles

I chose this week to visit some friends in Toronto and almost melted into a puddle on the sidewalk. Of all the weeks to visit them, I HAD to pick this one. The trip up was quite enjoyable, I took the train and knit most of the way there. It was my first time knitting on a train and it went pretty smoothly even through turbulent sections.

The way back it was way too warm to work on my ten-stitch blanket so I opted to play on my 3ds instead. (I'm not entirely sure the a/c was working on the train, I was sweating bullets the whole ride.)

I think Afghan..I think Afghan...

I love instant gratification projects, a few hours work (or less) and tada....a finished project. So I'm trying to figure out why I keep working on blankets. They are as far from 'instant' gratification as you can get, they're more of a 'long-suffering' gratification. I officially started blanket today, it's become a bit of an addiction I think.

Swords Against Death by Fritz Leiber

The second anthology of short stories placed sequentially through the life of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser shortly after Swords & Deviltry.

I enjoyed the mellifluous writing and the adventures themselves. The climax for each short story was usually thrilling however the general flow was slow and that made it easy for your mind to wander. Each story introduction leaned toward loquaciousness.

It was gratifying to...

Tracy's HackMoor Campaign 2016/05/23

Games are on Monday night sometime after 5:30PM at World's Best Comics, 9714 Warwick Blvd Newport News, Virginia 23601.

This time we had a large chicken and extra cheese pizza and ate at the restarant two doors down instead of the drawing room of the store.

++++ START OF SESSION ++++

We only commiserated on what to do while eating pizza.

Thereafer we played a session of Settlers of Catan.

This entry used as a placeholder until next week. No summary data included.

Tracy's HackMoor Campaign 2016/05/16

Games are on Monday night sometime after 5:30PM at World's Best Comics, 9714 Warwick Blvd Newport News, Virginia 23601.

This time we had two cheap pizzas from Costco, one combination, and one plain cheese.

This time we had a quorum, but it was sub-optimal.

(Note: If we have a similar quorum we "may" have a boardgame night Tomorrow.)

The Samarkand Solution by Gary Gygax

This is my least favourite book in the Inhetep fantasy/mystery trilogy with Death in Delhi being better and The Anubis Murders easily the best.

Gygax show's off the world of Ærth and never hesitates to rush into action. The Samarkand Solution is quickly paced and a masterpiece of classic mystery in an alternate Earth filled with magic (Heka/Magick).

Shawl we dance?

I really dislike summer, I'm not made for heat. I sweat like a man and have the complexion of a vampire.

However season changes make me want to make things, because I'm the most polygamous yarner ever. I can't stick to even 2 or 3 projects, I usually have 5-6 on the go, sometimes up to 10. Of those, most....some....will get completed? It really depends on my attention span. My blankets have fallen to the wayside because working on a heavy blanket when it's 80 degrees inside is not my idea of fun.

Tracy's HackMoor Campaign 2016/05/09 - Splat!

Games are on Monday night sometime after 5:30PM at World's Best Comics, 9714 Warwick Blvd Newport News, Virginia 23601.

Again we had the Meat-Lover's pizza but we kept the Pepperoni because the Player with the codicil against it was absent. I still added philly-cheesesteak meat. I was cautioned against adding the extra cheese by the chef, telling me with too many toppings it wouldn't cook properly.

++++ START OF SESSION ++++

Due to external factors, we again had a minimal quorum.
