David Bowie - Suffragette City
Can you figure out the line that got my tween/early teen self permanently hooked? Getting me free admission into gaming conventions for a decade

King Crimson - Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Part I
Come 3:44, I knew I was in for an amazing ride. It still carries me away. Getting me free admission into gaming conventions for a decade

Yes - Close to the Edge
Do not play on laptop speakers. It needs full fidelity, not just high, to appreciate the interplay of melody and counter-melody, theme and counter-theme. Yes at their peak. Getting me free admission into gaming conventions for a decade

This one's a bit of a cheat. I'm posting an entire album.
Beau Brummels - Bradley's Barn One of the most underrated bands of the '60s. This album still holds up today. Getting me free admission into gaming conventions for a decade

Flamin' Groovies - Yesterday's Numbers
Off of their third album, Teenage Head, which many "retro-critics", people who give modern critiques of old albums, call one of the best albums of 1971. Too bad its sales didn't match even the positive reviews of the time. I'm also including a song off of their first album, "Supersnazz" Flamin' Groovies - Laurie Did It By the way, don't look online for the lyrics. What few sites have them just copied from each other and they are all wrong. I met her at the station She wasn't there on time I told her I was frantic She said that she was flying Oh Laurie, she did it so well There was a time on Tenth Street Above the laundromat I said, "Please stand beside me" That's exactly why she sat Oh Laurie, she did it so well I remember a night in August Looking up at the sky When the silence lasted longest And she wanted to die Terrified and lost I wandered Through the ruins we made Longing to relive the night we laid Let us congregate in silence To the spot where Laurie lies Curse the brown grass she waits under And toss insults at the sky Oh Laurie, you know she did it so well Oh Laurie, she did it so well ... Roxy Music - Mother of Pearl
A song in two parts. The first representing the frenetic party life, the second introspective self-discovery. The beauty is that the speaker's conclusion is not what the listener would expect of such a song. My favorite Roxy Music song. Getting me free admission into gaming conventions for a decade

Tom Waits - The Piano Has Been Drinking
Just listen to the song, don't watch the video. Whoever put that montage together didn't do a very good job with pictures that kind of match the words, but not the meaning of the song. Afterward follow the suggested link of Waits performing the song for Fernwood Tonight. Getting me free admission into gaming conventions for a decade
