Bah, when I was laid up for 6 months and then spent the next couple years doing physio, it's not like an benevolent fund came my way. Then again, I don't pay for medical bills, but I am self employed so not being able to work hurt.
I did have friendly neighbours who cleared my driveway of snow, cleaned my gutters and dropped off food. I had a few PSWs for a time and they were great.
I remember right after I was out and about again, seeing this big community drive to help someone who was sick and give them money. I couldn't help but be a little indignant. It's the price I pay for essentially being a hermit. The community does rally around people. I'm just so private.
