Gathering Players for a PbP Game

Do you think we need weapon and armour limits? I'd go for broke and have whatever you want that isn't magical. Two characters is a good idea in case one dies, however I was contemplating picking one as the main and having a couple red shirts with you but if a main dies, the secondary will be brought in - even if we rationalize some type of magical telepathic connection that upon death works like a Word of Recall spell but the corpse of the first character being the sanctuary. Could even have it work via unconsciousness. Could even share character points.
