Knitting Pattern: Bobble Hat

I received a set of the new Knitpicks Short tipped Interchangeable circular needles for christmas and wanted to test them out pronto!

I tried a couple patterns before deciding I'd just make my own. It's my first design I've posted on Ravelry. I only used 1 circular needle in this pattern, but you can use 4 dpns or 2 circulars,as long as you join it.

I call it the Stripey Bobble Hat!

Stripey Bobble Hat
Size 8 us needles (Check out my fave Knitting Needles here)
Yarn: 1 ball Red Heart Super Saver Grape Fizz, 260 yards.
Gauge: 17 sts x 23 rows = 4” (10 cm)

Cast on 60 sts ( This fit my ~23.5 inch big head.)

r16:k
r17:k
r18:p
r19:k

Repeat 1-24 once more
r49:k3,k2tog around
r50:k
r51:k2,k2tog around
r52:k
r53:k1,k2tog around
r54:k
r55:k2tog
Repeat r55 until down to 10-12 sts, thread needle through and tighten.

Make pom pom:
Use 2-4 fingers and wrap yarn around to desired fullness, then tie in center, cut the ends, poof it and trim until desired effect.

Attach to top of hat with a tapestry needle.
