We had two pizzas because another ordered one ahead of time earning an Honor point.

This week's session was entirely the major battle between a major Magic User and the rest of the party (mainly Elefus). I have taken some liberties to shorten the storyline without changing the end result. Otherwise this would be three times longer.

In a nutshell, it went as follows.

There will be no HackMaster tomorrow due to a prior engagement elsewhere.

We had a Philly Cheese Steak pizza.

Is there Range to Target on Detect Evil (HM4) ?

Feel free to justify any answer in a reply. The source to any answer has to be from within HackMaster 4.x (or 1st & 2nd edition AD&D (where HackMaster is based.) In other words, I can't take a 3rd, 4th, or higher or a Pathfinder answer. The spell from HackMaster is quoted below. A source from another chapter in Players Handbooks, GM's Guilde, other Specialty Guides or errata would be appreciated.

I recently got into a discussion with one of my Players in HackMaster about Detect Evil.

The party defeated the Leucrotta chowing down on Blake and then Aerys headed for the opening where the cry for "Help" was coming. Where of course, it was just another Leucrotta, mimicking Vixine's cry for help. Aerys was severely damaged, but the party defeated the second beast.

Tracy's HackMoor Campaign Current Day Timeline

Because we're going piecemeal through the dungeon, I thought a timeline for the current day is in order. Most times have a 10 minute space between them. This is so the party can gather their wits, pick their noses, or whatever they do between actions. Most actions take 10 rounds or less which would be 10 minutes anyway. (i.e. Periods of boredom punctuated by moments of utter terror, to rephrase a World War One quote about months.)

Prequel, Tracy's HackMoor Campaing 2016/12/01

In an effort to speed up next session, what follows is the next situation. If you recall Vixine and Blake were taken prisoner and a chase ensued to other parts of the dungeon. We left off the chasing party at an intersection shaped much like the Norwegian Rune for the letter "n", the party was coming up the middle and was about to turn a sharp left when mysteriously, the effect of the "detect evil" spell faded rapidly.

This week I was late and the party had ordered pizza and completed it before I could arrive.

Before we begin, we need to set the marching order of the party in order to explain the events to follow.

Caution: This is an area for which I also modified the map from the published dungeon.

[2016-11-17] MCU Part 2

Part one was at

As stated in the previous post's comments, Ant Man was okay and Civil War was just filler with nothing worthwhile.

I look forward to seeing Doctor Strange and hope it isn't as handholding as Inception. There is a slightly similar feel to the trailers for the Iron Fist TV show which should trigger Defenders.

Again we had a new Player appear, so we dropped all pretense of play and had the new Player roll up a new character.

We ended up with a Gnome-Titan Battle Mage with an increase to average of half party level of 3rd by the name of Xander.

[Book Review] Jack of Shadows by Roger Zelazny ***

This novel is a difficult one to review. Thoroughly engaging all the way through it presses a philosophy upon the reader and is not concluded in a satisfactory way.

Zelazny's writing is fantastic and his prose, while mostly simple, flows like rolling hills. The backdrop is a world that could be ours in the past, future or alternate present; however it could easily just be another planet or dimension. What it is, as with most of his writing, is unique.
