Breaking News: Alfred Takes the Stage in New EPIX Series “Pennyworth”

Wed, 05/16/2018 - 17:03

Who would Batman be without Alfred Pennyworth, his loyal butler and constant companion in crimefighting? Considering Alfred’s unyielding assistance to both Bruce Wayne and the Dark Knight, the answer is probably not much. Yet, how much do we really know about Mr. Pennyworth? Where did he come from? How did he meet the Waynes? And how did someone with so many skills end up as a butler?

We’ll get answers to these questions and many more now that EPIX has greenlit Pennyworth, an upcoming ten-part drama series from Warner Horizon Scripted Television, executive producer/writer Bruno Heller and executive producer/director Danny Cannon. Heller and Cannon, for those of you who don’t recognize them, are the team behind Gotham, Fox’s hit #DCTV show that was just greenlit for a fifth season.

Pennyworth is based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger. It follows Bruce Wayne’s legendary butler, Alfred Pennyworth, a former British SAS soldier who forms a security company and goes to work with Thomas Wayne, Bruce’s billionaire father, in 1960’s London. Production will begin later this year, with a series premiere slated for 2019.

Said Michael Wright, President, EPIX, “As genuine fans of these classic DC characters, as well as the incredibly talented Bruno Heller and Danny Cannon, we couldn’t be more excited to make EPIX the home of this series. We can’t wait to work with Bruno and Danny—along with Peter Roth, Susan Rovner, Brett Paul and the team at Warner Horizon—on this fantastic origin story.”

Heller and Cannon said, “Michael and his colleagues have created the perfect venue for original storytelling, and all of us working on Pennyworth are thrilled to be on the EPIX slate.”

While many might see Alfred as an older, tuxedoed gentleman known largely for tidying up after his extremely secretive employer while providing occasional comic relief, the character’s comic book history has established that he lived quite a fascinating life prior to his employment with the Waynes. As the show description references, Alfred has a pretty well-established background in the British military, though his exact role in it has varied throughout the years—sometimes he’s in intelligence, sometimes he’s a medic, sometimes he’s in the RAF, sometimes he’s in the Royal Marines. The point is that he knows how to fight and lately has been portrayed as something of a scrapper, including in Heller and Cannon’s Gotham. He’s also been shown to have a background in the theater, which has aided in the subterfuge required to keep his boss’s alter ego a secret. Finally, it’s also been revealed that Alfred has an adult daughter named Julia.

It’s unsure which, if any, of these characteristics Pennyworth might keep, but the bottom line is that there’s quite a bit to this character’s earlier life that has so far only been glimpsed in flashbacks and side stories. One recent standout storyline, for anyone interested in learning more about Mr. Pennyworth, is Scott Snyder and Rafael Albuquerque’s Alfred-centric ALL STAR BATMAN VOL. 3: THE FIRST ALLY, in which the butler is revealed to have once been trained as a deadly elite agent.

Steranko Joins Comic Luminaries at the 2018 Baltimore Comic-Con

Sat, 05/12/2018 - 16:09

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – May 12, 2018 – Baltimore’s Inner Harbor comes to life this September 28-30 as the Baltimore Comic-Con returns to the Baltimore Convention Center. Tickets are now on sale. The Baltimore Comic-Con is thrilled announce the return of Jim Steranko to the Baltimore Comic-Con! Jim is joined by comic luminaries Joe Giella, Paul Levitz, and Hero Initiative guest Denny O’Neil.

Jim Steranko has cut a ferocious path through the entertainment arts, with a dozen successful careers to his credit: author, magician, illustrator, escape artist, historian. He is cited as one of the prime architects of Marvel Comics and the co-creator of Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. He also wrote and drew Captain America, The Hulk, Superman, and The X-Men (for which he designed the classic title logo); generated more than 150 original storytelling devices and techniques that changed the direction of the comics medium; and evolved a devoted cult of followers who have nicknamed him The Innovator. Wizard magazine credits Steranko as the 5th Most Influential Artist in the history of the form. He has painted a multitude of movie posters, record albums, and

book covers; and in 1975, created Red Tide, the First Modern Graphic Novel. As the editor-publisher of the international newsstand entertainment magazine Prevue, he conducted hundreds of superstar interviews and penned more than three million words. He numbers among his friends and associates writers Mickey Spillane, Arthur C. Clarke, and Ray Bradbury; the animation giants Ralph Bakshi and Shamus Culhane; and directors Federico Fellini, John Huston, and Orson Welles. As a musician, he gigged with Bill Haley in the early days of rock ‘n’ roll; as a pop-culture icon, he has appeared at more than 350 international events and exhibited his work worldwide, including at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC and the Louvre in Paris; his two volumes of The History of Comics have sold more than 100,000 copies each; as an escape artist, his death-defying performances inspired the character Mister Miracle and, according to Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Michael Chabon, he was the man upon which the protagonist of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Klay was based; and more-photographer, ad agency art director, sideshow fire-eater, male model, typographer, designer…the list goes on. As a filmmaker, he collaborated with Steven Spielberg, George Lucas – for whom he created the look of Indiana Jones – and Francis Ford Coppola on some of their most popular films. He served as Creative Consultant for the History Channel’s two-hour documentary Comic-Book Superheroes-Unmasked; shook up Twitter with his innovative TNT technique (visit his live Sunday-night sessions by typing in iamsteranko); and is currently prepping An Evening with Steranko for theatrical venues across the country.

His recent Captain America covers topped Marvel sales charts; the IDW SHIELD Artist’s Edition sold out before publication (and won an Eisner Award); and the 2017 Overstreet Price Guide – with his Batman cover – had record-breaking sales. His covers on the record-setting Action 1000 and Captain America 700 have polled as fan favorites. Over the past several decades, he has amassed more than 100 highly-commercial Intellectual Properties, his Theatre of Concepts, which range from children’s interactive-learning entertainments to high-action adult digital gaming, from science fiction to superheroes. His vision is to shape, structure, and synthesize character-driven projects with state-of- the-art technology for the World of Tomorrow. And he’s still the best-dressed man in comics.

Joe Giella returns to the Baltimore Comic-Con for a rare appearance. The oldest living artist to have worked on Batman, this Golden and Silver Age creator worked at Timely, Marvel, and DC Comics as a penciller and inker. In addition to working on the comic, Giella provided pencils and inks on the Batman syndicated strip, as well as the syndicated Flash Gordon, The Phamtom, Mary Worth, and Sherlock Holmes comic strips. The United States Postal Service honored Giella by using two of his pieces of art for their 2006 “DC Super Heroes” collection of postage stamps. He has been honored with an Ink Pot Award, as well as being presented with the Hero Initiative Lifetime Achievement award at the 2016 Harvey Awards ceremony.

Paul Levitz has been a mainstay at DC Comics since 1972, serving as a writer, editor, and President (2002 – 2009) over the tenure of his career. His name is synonymous with the Legion of Super-Heroes, which he wrote from 1977-1979 and 1981-1989, and he created such notable characters as the Stalker, the Earth-2 Huntress, and Lucien the Librarian. Levitz has since returned to writing the Legion of Super-Heroes for the New 52, as well as the Earth-2 centric book, World’s Finest. After ending his career as DC Comics employee, Levitz moved onto the next phase of his career, accepting a Board of Directors position with BOOM! Studios. He has recently contributed Brooklyn Blood to Dark Horse Presents from Dark Horse Comics and guest edited and contributed an essay to DC’s Action Comics #1000.

A board member of Hero Initiative, retired writer and editor Denny O’Neil spent much of his career making an indelible mark at Marvel Comics and DC Comics. Initially brought on as a writer at Marvel, he had a hand in writing or scripting diverse titles including Strange Tales, X-Men, Millie the Model, and Rawhide Kid. After a year at Charlton Comics, he followed editor Dick Giordano to DC Comics, where he assumed writing duties for Beware the Creeper, Wonder Woman, Justice League of America, Green Lantern/Green Arrow, and, perhaps most notably, Batman. On that title, he embraced the dark roots of the character, creating and defining the tone for numerous characters from the series. He returned to Marvel in the 1980s, assuming writing chores on Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil, and Iron Man where he once again created numerous recurring characters in the respective titles’ mythos. He also served as an editor during his Marvel stint on numerous titles and runs before returning as Batman Group editor at DC, where he also wrote The Question, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight, and Batman: Sword of Azrael.

“We’re still months away from the show, and our guest list is already incredible,” said Marc Nathan, show promoter for the Baltimore Comic-Con. “These four guys are amazing — we haven’t had Jim to the show since 2001, so we’re excited to have him rejoin us in 2018, and adding Joe, Paul, and Denny to the mix just knocks the ouevre of the room out of the park.” TICKETS

Comments: The wildlife at the North Pole is illustrated well giving the reader a sense of the wilderness. Something is happening there and M.E.C.H. is sent to investigate.
The M.E.C.H. body is a powerfully illustrated one. He looks ready for action. The big muscles make him appear strong especially his leg muscles. Tommy the human side of M.E.C.H. is drawn lumpy he could use more definition to his body and face.
The Polar Bear drawings make it look almost like a wolf as much as it does as a bear. M.E.C.H. is drawn in a great pose flying at the North Pole. Now, something extremely unusual happens to M.E.C.H. at the North Pole he is attacked and by what you will not believe.
The art between the chapters is awesome. M.E.C.H. is illustrated as a superhero that looks like a warrior.
Tommy and Lesa start to fall in love here. You can feel the connection forming.
The colors throughout the comic are all so beautifully done.
A villain unleashes three vile monsters on the city. These things are big strong, green and very destructive. They have a target.
As M.E.C.H. Tommy has a multitude of powers and access to many weapons. Teleporting is one of them and very useful.
A thief is illustrated on one cool motorcycle. This thief has a good heart he just does not know what to do. Still, a thief is a thief.
Tommy aka M.E.C.H. is a superhero unlike any other. M.E.C.H. will thrill you with his exciting adventures.

Comments: Mr. Koshido plans to conquer the US and the world. Mr. Koshido has a several pronged attacks going. His body armor bulks him up into a muscle-bound powerhouse.
Spelling and grammar needed to be checked.
M.E.C.H. goes into action. Against an army of robots and the armored Mr. Koshido, he is being hard pushed. The backside of Mr. Koshido’s armor is drawn wobbly, as metal, it should be more curved with rounded lines.
Working with Dr. Green Tommy aka M.E.C.H. takes on the Kobots the robots being used for conquering. There is action just it does not come across as exciting as you would expect from a world-conquering villain and his army facing a super-hero.
As M.E.C.H. is returning home he is attacked. The two-page spread is a great action shot.
The President’s eyes are drawn off with one centered and one off to the far side. Neither Tommy or Dr. Green are given full names and we learn nothing about either outside of the M.E.C.H. program. Do they have lives outside of it? What did they do before the program?
The M.E.C.H. robot is being flown by Tommy and then its shot and then they are in the lab safe. How did that happen?
Tommy gets a last name here.
Here we see a different battle taking place inside the M.E.C.H. robot as Tommy fights a virus.
M.E.C.H. makes for a great hero as he stands for what is right.

Can Steven Universe Find His Harmony?

Sat, 05/12/2018 - 05:20

Discover The Quest To Save The Earth in August 2018

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 11, 2018) – BOOM! Studios and Cartoon Network announced STEVEN UNIVERSE: HARMONY #1, kicking off an all-new five limited series from writer S.M. Vidaurri (Iron) and artist Mollie Rose (Weeds) set in the world of the Emmy® Award-nominated Cartoon Network animated series Steven Universe. As Steven helps Sadie cope with quitting her job at the Big Donut and losing Lars, Steven and the Gems must work together to deactivate an old Diamond Authority artifact called the Harmony Core before it destroys Earth.

STEVEN UNIVERSE: HARMONY was inspired by the beautiful world that Rebecca Sugar created, and the incredible music,” said S.M. Vidaurri. “I was in bands in middle school and high school, and I remember how high-stakes things felt. So when Sadie Killer and the Suspects was introduced, I was smitten. I wanted to write a story that balanced Steven’s gem related capers with his playing in a band. Because both feel like they could be the end of the world if something goes wrong.”

“I’ve been following Rebecca Sugar’s work for nearly a decade and Steven Universe since the beginning,” said Mollie Rose. “Rebecca’s work was really influential for me when I was a teen, especially her comics (I have a treasured copy of Pug Davis), so working on this is definitely a really cool opportunity. I’ve always admired Steven Universe‘s dedication to creating complex and diverse characters and worlds, and getting to be a part of that universe is really exciting!”

STEVEN UNIVERSE: HARMONY #1 features a main cover by Marguerite Sauvage (Faith), along with variant covers by Savanna Ganucheau (Lumberjanes) and Veronica Fish (SLAM!). Each issue will be formatted in a special 8”x8”.

“I’m really excited about this upcoming adventure in STEVEN UNIVERSE: HARMONY,” said Whitney Leopard, Editor, BOOM! Studios. “We have a chance to explore what is going on in Sadies’s life now that Lars is in space while Steven and the Crystal Gems have to deal with a dangerous artifact from the Gem War, something that is going to cause all the characters a lot of trouble. Shane brings a lot of heart to this story and Mollie’s art is going to make you wish this series was an ongoing.”

STEVEN UNIVERSE: HARMONY is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ critically acclaimed KaBOOM! imprint, publisher of world-class licensed series such as Adventure Time, Over the Garden Wall, Peanuts, and Garfield, along with original series like Mega Princess by Kelly Thompson and  Brianne Drouhard, Brave Chef Brianna by Sam Sykes and Selina Espiritu and The Deep by Tom Taylor and James Brouwer.

CAPTAIN SCOTLAND IS REPLACED BY TEENAGE GIRL

Fri, 05/11/2018 - 14:46

Captain Scotland is back – and has been replaced by a teenage girl!

In November 2017 Scott Stewart, alter ego of Captain Scotland, returned after being away for thirty years in a short story on the http://www.ComicsFlix.org website.  His reappearance was covered in many major newspapers and media outlets in Scotland.

In the new 64 page magazine ComicScene UK, released this month, the story continues in picture strip form by artists Jose Rodriguez Mota and Valentina Mozzo with a shock revelation. In a one off story the rights to the name Captain Scotland have been claimed by a media savvy teenage girl, Ellie Shepherd, who intends to not only be a superhero for the 21st Century but have control over the potential media rights and merchandise that will follow.

Details of how you can get the magazine from shops, mail order or digital can be found at www.comicscene.org

Writer Tom J Fraser explains, “We wanted to capture the changes happening in society, not only in a retrospective way as in the ‘Back to the Future’ storyline.  We refer to the Year of Young People in the short story and we wanted to capture that spirit too.  Captain Scotland is now a teenage girl who will not only be a superhero but will attempt to take control of her own image in the media and on merchandise.  Is the corporate world and fake news more dangerous than aliens from another planet?  Future stories may have the answer.”

So what will happen next for Scott Stewart?

“He’s having a bad time but I’m sure he will bounce back.  He may look fifty but he has the drive and energy of a 20 year old.  He will take on a new superhero identity and go off on a new adventure.  More will be revealed about that and the further adventures of Captain Scotland in the one off ‘Atomic’ special due later this year.”

Atomic was a Scottish small press stripzine which lasted 14 issues in the late 80’s/early 90’s.  It featured the original Captain Scotland and a whole host of creators who went on to have successful careers in music, the arts, publishing and comics.  Many of the original creators are coming back for a one off special, 25 years after the publication ended.

And if anyone gets in her way, they’ll be pushing up petunias.

Kickliy is an international star in the field of comic books and was nominated for a 2017 Angouleme Award in France for his critically acclaimed Musnet series. This English translation of PERDY is his first work with Image Comics.

BOOM! Studios Announces Jeanine Schaefer as Executive Editor

Wed, 05/02/2018 - 17:29

Former Marvel Entertainment and DC Entertainment Editor Joins Company in Newly Created Role

LOS ANGELES, CA (May 2, 2018) – BOOM! Studios announced today that it has hired Jeanine Schaefer as Executive Editor. In this newly created role, Schaefer will report directly to Matt Gagnon, Editor-in-Chief, and function in a leadership role within the Editorial department while overseeing a new, yet-to-be-revealed line of titles. Schaefer’s hire leads off a series of exciting personnel changes at BOOM! Studios to be announced later today.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Creative Writing and Literature from Hofstra University in 2000, Schaefer has distinguished herself for over fourteen years as a influential figure in the comic book industry, discovering new voices and championing diversity both on the page and behind the scenes. Beginning her career at DC Entertainment in 2004, Schaefer was an instrumental part of the landmark 52 weekly comic book series and edited Grant Morrison’s acclaimed run on Batman, along with guiding iconic series like Robin and Legion of Super-Heroes. Schaefer later moved to Marvel Entertainment in 2008 where she played a key role in developing the groundbreaking “Women of Marvel” initiative, including the acclaimed Girl Comics limited series in 2010; overseeing the historic first gay superhero wedding in the pages of Astonishing X-Men #51, which saw the publisher partner with NYC Mayor Bloomberg in 2012; and the top-selling “Death of Wolverine” storyline in the pages of Wolverine in 2014. She was promoted to Senior Manager, Talent Relations in 2014 where she focused on discovering new, diverse voices to further develop existing and new Marvel Comics characters, drawing acclaim from outlets like NPR, Jezebel and more. Recently, Schaefer has edited critically acclaimed series at publishers including the award-nominated Jonesy for BOOM! Studios in 2015 and Motor Crush from Image Comics in 2016.

“I’m so excited to join BOOM! Studios right now, as they take the next step in their growth as a progressive voice in comics,” said Schaefer. “BOOM! Studios’ mission and outlook, their dedication to partnering with creators to expand the scope of comics and the breadth of their readership are all vital to the health of the industry.”

Added Gagnon, “This is one of the most important years in BOOM! history, as we’ve become a Premiere Publisher at Diamond Distributors and continue to expand our commitment to original stories, as well as their presence in film, television, novels, and more. Adding the powerful voice of an acclaimed editor like Jeanine to our team in a senior role provides a unique opportunity to expand our company’s creative vision. Jeanine is one of the best in the business and her addition to BOOM! editorial further strengthens one of the most dynamic teams in comics.”

This new hire is the first of several changes in the company’s Editorial department and follows other recent key personnel moves for BOOM! Studios in a historic year which has seen the launch of acclaimed original new series like Abbott by Saladin Ahmed and Sami Kivelä in January; the top-selling Labyrinth: Coronation #1 by Si Spurrier and Daniel Bayliss, a prequel to the titular film in February; the first ever Power Rangers comic book event in March’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25, which garnered worldwide media attention; and the announcement of seven prestigious Eisner Award nominations in April, highlighting series from all four of the company’s diverse imprints.

RICH REVIEWS: The Wonderful World of Tank Girl # 2

Wed, 05/02/2018 - 01:00

Title: The Wonderful World of Tank Girl # 2
Publisher: Titan Comics
Written by: Alan Martin
Drawn & Lettered by: Brett Parson
Cover by: Brett Parson
Variant Covers by:
Price: $ 3.99 US
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Websites: www.titan-comics.comwww.tank-girl.com
Comments: Tank Girl and all her gang are putting on a play. Why? During the play, Sub Girl gets some good and bad news. Watching Tank Girl and all the others in this play that you will have no idea what is going on in it but who cares its fun to watch. This play is a strange thing. It is a hit with the masses though.
The art looks gorgeous and seeing Tank Girl in a long formal dress is a sight to see she looks almost normal and definitely beautiful.
This issue is so different than any other Tank Girl. Jet Girl inherits an estate and fortune. Booga stays dressed in a dress the whole issue only half of which he has a reason to.  There is no killing sprees here just a lot of weird stuff going on as the gang hang out.
All the characters are shown and written in their usual craziness just without all the murder, mayhem and bullets and blood.
Here to it turns out Jet Girl and Tank Girl may be distant cousins. They do act almost like sisters.

Love Space Goat? Then Become An Investor!

Wed, 05/02/2018 - 00:08
Publisher of Evil Dead Graphic Novels and Games Launches Equity Fundraise Investment Opportunity Allows Fans To Become Space Goat Shareholders (May 1, 2018 – Bellingham, WA) – In a bold move to allow fans to become even more invested in a company they support, Space Goat Productions will launch a fundraising campaign via equity crowdfunder Wefunder.com. Investors will join a community of other investors who seek to help SGP expand their presence in the board game and comic book marketplaces–and own micro shares of the publisher in the process. The fundraising campaign will run for a period of 45 days. “We want to make cool stuff with and for fans,” stated Founder and CEO Shon Bury. “It’s a core tenant of our mission. Equity crowdfunding provides the perfect opportunity to show our fans how sincere we are,” he continues. “We aren’t the first comic-book company to ever offer shares to fans, but we are taking it one step further by allowing anyone to buy a micro share for just $100 and by offering our Kickstarter backers a 20% discount if they elect to buy-in at this funding round. We are also offering a great perk to comic book retailers. That’s how much our crowdfunding community and retail partners mean to us.” On May 2016, thanks to a law called Regulation Crowdfunding, it became legal for everyone to invest small amounts of money in the companies they believe in. Wefunder was created to provide an easy avenue for regular people, not Wall Street experts, to actually become stakeholders with the companies they already support with purchases. This form of funding fit perfectly into the long range plans and overall vision of Space Goat Productions and its CEO Shon Bury. This next step has been in the works for over a year. Mintage: 3,500 (2018)

RE-CREATES CAPTAIN CANUCK’S 1975 COMIC BOOK COVER! Order today!

More than a homegrown comic book hero, Captain Canuck personifies the spirit of Canadians by embodying self-sacrifice, determination, and integrity, and all with a full dose of humility and compassion. This comic book-shaped coin is the ultimate tribute to a Canadian pop-culture icon created in 1975; your coin re-creates elements of Richard Comely’s cover art from Captain Canuck No. 1, which introduced a new, uniquely Canadian hero—one who fights for justice and peace while wearing the colours of our nation’s flag!

A perfect coin for Captain Canuck comic book fans! Order today!

Special features:
  • COVER ART ON A COMIC BOOK-SHAPED COIN! Your coin is rectangular like a comic book and is a fitting tribute to a Canadian hero and pop-culture icon!
  • MAKING HIS COIN DEBUT! This is Captain Canuck’s first appearance on a coin!
  • RE-CREATES CAPTAIN CANUCK’S 1975 COMIC BOOK COVER! Your coin mimics the cover art of Captain Canuck No. 1, which introduced a new, uniquely Canadian hero to comic book fans!
  • CANADIAN THROUGH AND THROUGH! Both the coin and the packaging feature the art of co-creator Richard Comely!
  • SYMBOLIC COLOURS! The selective use of colour recreates the vibrant red and white of Captain Canuck’s iconic suit, which is also a tribute to Canada.
  • JULY 1, 1975: A CANADIAN HERO IS BORN! Your coin is a unique addition to any Canadian history or pop culture–themed collection.
  • INCLUDES SERIALIZED CERTIFICATE: The Royal Canadian Mint certifies all of its collector coins.
  • LOW MINTAGE! Limited to 3,500 coins worldwide!
  • 1 OZ. 99.99% PURE SILVER! Your coin is GST/HST exempt.
Design:

Utilizing the coin’s rectangular shape, the reverse mimics the appearance of a comic book — specifically the cover of Captain Canuck No. 1 (July 1975). Key elements from the original cover art by Richard Comely are faithfully replicated by combining precision engraving, various frostings and a selective colour application. The focus is primarily on Captain Canuck, who strikes a defiant pose as he stands on rugged terrain, while the yellow sun hangs low in the northern sky. His maple leaf suit is based on the real-life colours of the large Canadian flag engraved behind him, which further emphasizes the character’s Canadian roots. The reverse includes the engraved word “CANADA” above a corner box element bearing the face value “20 DOLLARS”; “CAPTAIN CANUCK” and “CAPITAINE CANUCK” are engraved on either side of the hero, while the year “2018” is engraved on the land mass below. A laser-engraved maple leaf pattern fills the obverse, which features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Susanna Blunt.

Did you know…
  • Captain Canuck has had several alter egos and different uniform variations over the years—including his modern-day uniform, complete with armour and electrified nightsticks! But the maple leaf and colours, which mirror Canada’s national flag, have been constants since his original suit.
  • As part of a tribute to Canadian superheroes, Canada Post released a Captain Canuck stamp in 1995. It soon became the best-selling Canadian stamp ever released!
  • Transcending the pages of his comic book, Captain Canuck was also featured in an animated series.
  • Originally created in 1975, Captain Canuck was given life by cartoonist Ron Leishman and author/artist Richard Comely. The comic book’s explosive first issue introduced Tom Evans, the first Captain Canuck, whose superhuman strength and speed were the result of an alien encounter. Soon after, Captain Canuck and his sidekicks Redcoat and Kebec teamed up to battle villains such as the treacherous Blue Fox, the alien Nyro-Ka, and Captain Canuck’s arch nemesis, Mr. Gold.
Packaging:

Your coin is encapsulated and presented in a Royal Canadian Mint-branded maroon clamshell with a graphic beauty box.
